BALTIMORE 107, U.S. 82
[ ]  The Baltimore team exploded out of the gate and never looked back in winning it's fourth straight Charm City Challenge by the score of 107-82.  With the U.S. team looking to end Baltimore's streak and make the series, 5-3, the home squad ended the first quarter on a 16-2 run to establish a 29-17 lead.  After an even second quarter, the U.S. team cut the gap to four early in the third quarter, but the Baltimore squad answered with a 7-0 run and never looked back. The fourth quarter featured the Baltimore All-Stars throwing alley oop after alley oop in building a 25-point lead. Kimmie English led all scorers with 18 points to earn all-tournament honors. He was joined all the all-tournament team by Baltimore's Sean Mosley (15 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists), the U.S.'s Chris Turner (14 points), Dee Bost (17 points) and Xavier Gibson (11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 blocks). Troy Franklin earned MVP honors after dazzling the crowd with an array of dribbling moves and finishing the game with 14 points, 4 assists and 4 steals.

CITY 96, COUNTY 83
[ ] In the first game, the County All-Stars took a 26-18 first quarter lead, but the City All-Stars answered back and entered the lockerroom with a 44-40 advantage.  The County would never get closer than being 1 point down as the City would mount a run each time. Paul Kouvaris scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to lead the City, while Jordan Lee had 15 points for the County.

BALTIMORE 116, U.S. 113
[ ]  After entering the half with a one-point lead, Baltimore found themselves down by nine as they began the fourth quarter but used a 22-6 run to take a seven-point advantage with 2:59 remaining. The U.S. All-Stars twice cut the deficit to two, but Baltimore made its free throws down the stretch and Scoop Jardine's game-tying three at the buzzer rimmed out to hand U.S. its third-straight loss. MVP Malcolm Delaney scored 11 (nine of which came at the free throw line) of his game-high 27 points in the fourth quarter, and Aric Brooks chipped in with nine of his 25 in the last stanza.  Shane Walker tied an event-record with 15 rebounds. Darnell Dodson led the U.S. in scoring with 20 points, going 5-of-6 from behind the three-point arc.

COUNTY 89, CITY 85
[ ]  After trailing by as many as nine in the first quarter, the County team rallied to take a nine-point lead of its own late into the third quarter. The City All-Stars cut the lead down to 1 with just under two minutes remaining, but Garrett Blackstone and Kareem Downs hit back-to-back buckets to put the County All-Stars up six and were never tested again, ending the City All-Stars two-game winning streak and tying the series at 3. Downs led all scorers with 16, while Tommy Brenton and Ceslovas Kucinskas tied the game record with 16 rebounds.

BALTIMORE 92, U.S. 88
[ ]  The U.S. Team looked lie it would even up the series at 3-3 as they built a 23-point lead with three minutes to go before halftime, but the Baltimore All-Stars chipped away using a 15-10 run to eend the half and only trail by eight heading into the break. That lead was gone with 6:11 left in the game when MVP DaJuan Summers drilled a three-pointer to give Baltimore a one-point cushion. Teams traded the lead over the next five minutes until Summers' jumper put Baltimore in the lead for good with 1:22 left. Greivis Vasquez led all scorers with 27 points and Dwayne Collins set an event record with 15 rebounds. Summers, Jahmar Young and Rodney Spruill each scored 19 points for the winners.

CITY 93, COUNTY 82
[ ]  Trailing 43-38 at the half, Delano Johnson, Eric Pitts and Walter Sanderes each scored 10 points in the second half to give the City All-Stars their second-straight win and third overall with a 93-82 victory. The City All-Stars took a two-point lead on an Andrew Engel three-pointer with eight minutes left. The teams traded the lead for the next four minutes until Johnson scored four consecutive points on a lay up and a dunk as the City team closed the game on a 17-6 run.

BALTIMORE 110, U.S. 107
[ ]  Led by tournament MVP Velmar Coleman, the Baltimore team took a 3-2 lead in the all-time series with a 110-107 win. The Baltimore team held a 14-point half-time lead (64-50) and a 16-point advantage (90-74) at the end of three quarters. But the U.S. stormed back to take a 105-102 lead with 1:45 remaining in the game. Paris Carter then scored five straight points to give Baltimore a 109-107 lead with 20 seconds remaining. Coleman then hit one of two free throws down the stretch to seal the victory. Coleman scored 11 points with eight assists and seven rebounds while teammate Paris Carter scored a team-high 19 points. Alade Aminu led six U.S. players in double figures with 19 points.

CITY 121, COUNTY 111
[ ]  After trailing at the half 59-48, the City team outscored the Suburban team 38-28 in the third quarter to trail by one point to begin the final stanza. A quick start for the City team to start the fourth quarter led to a 121-111 win. Darron Edwards (Dunbar) was one of five City players to score in double figures with a team-high 26. Domonic Venable (Randallstown) led the Suburban team with a tournament record 29 points. Venable also recorded a game-high 12 rebounds.

U.S. 98, BALTIMORE 79
[ ]
  The U.S. team tied the all-time series at two apiece with 98-79 win over the Baltimore All-Stars as six U.S. players scored in double digits.  The U.S. team shot 44 percent for the game compared to 34 percent for Baltimore.  Zam Fredrick (Georgia Tech) led the U.S. team with 16 points and Isaiah Swann (Florida St.) added 15.  Darnell Harris led the Baltimore team with a game-high 18 points and Mitch Guest chipped in 12.  Tied at 46 at the half, the Baltimore team was outscored 23-12 in the third quarter as the U.S. team pulled away for the win.

COUNTY 114, CITY 104
[ ]The Suburban team used a 28-9 run to start the fourth quarter on the way to a 117-104 win over the City All-Stars.  MVP Bassirou Dieng scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while teammate Barry Cornish netted 23 points for the Suburban All-Stars.  The City team was led by Dunbar’s Camontae Griffin’s 18 points.

BALTIMORE 112, U.S. 97

[ ]
   The Baltimore All-Stars took a 2-1 lead in the overall series with a 112-97 win.  MVP Gerald Brown (Providence) led the Baltimore team with 25 points while Josh Boone (UConn) chipped in 16 points and recorded a Charm City Challenge record 15 rebounds as well.  Guillermo Diaz (Miami, FL) scored 20 points to lead the U.S. that featured future Terps Ekene Ibekwe, Hassan Fofana and DJ Strawberry.  Trailing 73-71 entering the fourth quarter, the Baltimore team nailed several three-pointers early in the quarter and went on to outscore the U.S. All-Stars 41-24 in the final stanza.

COUNTY 118, CITY 97
[ ]   Malcolm Thomas led the County team to a 118-89 win as seven players scored in double figures led by Thomas’ 16 points.  Paul Frazier scored a game-high 20 points for the City team.

U.S. 108, BALTIMORE 100
[ ]
  The Sun’s All-Met Player of the Year and Charm City MVP Tyler Smith scored a tournament record 29 points and Richard Dorsey netted 28 for the Baltimore All-Stars but it wasn’t enough as the U.S. team won 108-100.  The Baltimore team held a 16-point advantage in the second quarter but a 13-0 run by the U.S. team closed the gap.  In the third quarter team U.S. had runs of 12-4 and 10-0 to take a 84-73 lead into the fourth quarter.  Eric Hicks (Cincinnati) led the national team with 18 points.

CITY 80, COUNTY 73
[ ] The inaugural version of the game saw the two teams deadlocked after the first half, but the City All-Stars outscored the County All-Stars 24-15 in the third quarter and never looked back taking home a 80-73 triumph. Anthony Fitzgerald posted a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds for the City, while Dwayne Birden and Matt Tanner each scored 16 for the County.

2001

MVP: Melvin Scott (Southern)

BALTIMORE 86, U.S. 73
[ ]
  Led by Melvin Scott’s (UNC) 25 points, the Baltimore All-Stars defeated the U.S. team 86-73 in the inaugural Charm City Challenge. Scott hit five three-pointers in the game and earned MVP honors. The Baltimore team led 32-15 after the first 10 minutes of the game, but Jonathan Hargett and Derek Stribbling got the U.S. team with three points, 37-34, nearing the half. In the second half, Baltimore's team depth took over as Dunbar's Kenny Minor scored 13 points.
